The flugelhorn is a brass instrument that
resembles the trumpet but has a wider conical bore. The experts at BMC have found that most students play the
flugelhorn after a few years experience playing the trumpet. The similarity of the mouthpiece,
playability, and valve structure of the two instruments makes this a fairly
easy switch. The tone of the flugelhorn
is generally darker and more mellow than the trumpet, and is often used in jazz
music, though it does occasionally appear in orchestral pieces. BMC carries several brands of flugelhorns,
including those by Bach, Conn, and Yamaha.
