First Flutes
A player’s first flute should have closed hole keys
(called plateau style) and an offset G key. This
accommodates the smaller hands of the beginning
player. Also, as silver produces the finest tone for
flutes, all first flutes chosen by MUES feature
nickel-silver alloy to produce a superior tone at an
affordable price, and are silver plated to provide
protection for those with the common allergy to nickel
while providing a beautiful finish.
Professional Flutes for
the Dedicated Student
As a player’s skill increases, a more advanced
flute, whose design and materials creates a better
tone and increases the range of the instrument, is
required. The flutes chosen by MUES feature solid
sterling silver headjoints (over 92% pure silver) or
solid sterling silver headjoint, body and footjoint,
which dramatically increases the tonal quality of the
flute and easily justifies the added expense.
Maintenance
Maintenance and care are the most important
factors in maintaining the playability and longevity
of your instrument.
Moisture is the flute's
Public Enemy #1. It causes deterioration and premature
failure of the pads as well as providing the perfect
environment for germs and bacteria to flourish.
Swabbing and using pad savers are the best
preventative medicines for this condition.
