Dawn graduated from the Crane School of Music with a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education with a concentration on Flute and a Minor in Spanish. She received her Master’s degree in Bilingual/Multicultural Education from Fairfield University. She began her teaching career with Elementary and Middle School Music. In 1989 she became a Band Director at Carmel High School, a district awarded one of NAMM’s Best Communities for Music Education, where she taught for 33 years. She directed.several different groups including Freshman Band, Concert Band, and Wind Ensemble. Her daily schedule included group lessons for intermediate and advanced levels, for all woodwind, upper brass, and percussion students at Carmel High School. She has directed the CHS Woodwind Quintet, earning top level scores at New York State School Music Association Festivals. Also, Dawn has taught a guitar class for many years at CHS, which focuses both on traditional skills but also modern/contemporary and pop music. Her love of music has only grown over the years, finding inspiration in seeing her students enjoy music, too.

The Music School's woodwind lessons are an exciting way to bring music into you or your child's schedule!

Do you want to jam with your friends? Maybe just rock out for fun? Learn to play pop, jazz, classical, or band music! Perhaps you'd like to play saxophone as a stress reliever or for physical therapy? Learn the fundamentals of playing a woodwind instrument, from keeping a basic, steady tempo, to playing the lead Sax through chord changes of a jazz ensemble. Maybe you always wanted to learn to play Flute or Clarinet but never had the time. Learning to play an instrument will develop problem solving skills, discipline, and self expression.
