Health Crisis Response

January 18, 2021

AWESOME NEWS! We are cleared to open for normal in-store hours as of today after all of our staff members have recieved negative results. Please remember that masks and social distancing are required in store.

January 8, 2021

Out of an abundance of caution Bethel Music Center will be operating under limited hours for curbside service only.  The Music School will continue to operate remotely under the regular schedule.  Staff members are safe and maintaining distance as instructed by health and safety guidelines.  Technicians are following appropriate protocols to safely work on repairing instruments.
While we do not feel there is a serious risk within the store, our top priority is the health and safety of our staff and customers

Instruments and accessories can still be purchased and payments can still be made over the phone.

For the purpose of sanitizing the store,
Bethel Music Center is
closed today Friday 1/8/2021.

We will be open for limited hours tomorrow
Saturday 1/9/2021 from 10am - 2pm.

Monday 1/11/2021 through Friday 1/15/2021
we will be open for curbside service from
11am - 5pm
Saturday 1/16/2021 will be open from 10am - 3pm.

BMC has put the following safety measures in place to keep our staff, students, customers, and teachers safe during these uncertain times. Your cooperation will help us to accomplish that goal!

  • Always wear a mask when entering Bethel Music Center.

  • BMC can only accommodate 6 (six) customers at a time in the store. You may be asked to wait briefly outside or in your car—we appreciate your patience!

  • No more than 2 (two) people per family at a time when shopping, if at all possible. If you have a larger party please call—we will be happy to make an appointment so we can safely serve you.

  • Family members must stay together while shopping for the health and safety of our staff and customers.

  • Please make every effort to limit your shopping trip to 15 minutes or less. If you think your purchase will require more than 15 minutes please call us—we will be happy to make an appointment to spend extra time with you.

Dear Bethel Music Center Community,

These are certainly very difficult times to navigate through and each day brings new challenges. The silver lining to the horrible COVID-19 pandemic is that the community at large is supporting each other and coming together like I have never seen before.

This last week we have been hard at work changing the way we do things. Our biggest challenge was moving to an online lesson platform in order to keep life as normal as possible for our students and their families. My deepest thanks to the staff at BMC for conceiving of and implementing this new process in record time. It was no small task. What an amazing group of people!

We unfortunately have been instructed by the State of Connecticut to close our doors to the public and only offer curbside service.

Curbside hours: Monday - Friday 12pm - 5pm / Saturdays 10am - 3pm.
Please call or email us before stopping by.

Rest assured we are doing everything to keep the store environment healthy and safe for our staff.

If you are not comfortable stopping by, we will be happy to mail or ship directly to you.

My sincerest hope is that the COVID-19 outbreak passes soon so we can get back to our normal lives and put this challenging time in the rear view mirror.

Your continued support is greatly appreciated.

Please stay safe and healthy. If there is anything we can do to help, don’t hesitate to ask.

Warmest Regards,

Re: Student Showcase and COVID-19

Dear BMC Students, Families, and Teachers,

BMC is actively and carefully monitoring all public health guidance regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, and we will respond as necessary to support the community we serve and are members of.

In that light, we've made the decision to postpone our Student Showcase, originally scheduled for Saturday March 14th. We are planning to reschedule the recital for sometime in the month of May - we are not pinning down a date at this point, as developments from the health crisis are coming in daily. The uncertainty of the situation makes this change in scheduling inconvenient, but necessary in keeping our students and staff healthy.

As of this letter, there are no causes for alarm here at BMC. Staff and teachers are all healthy, and any measures being taken are precautionary. Please find below some things that we are doing in order to keep our store open, and our lesson program moving forward:

  • Staff are wiping down all surfaces that are frequently touched or handled (including keyboards, music stands, computers, drums, amplifiers, phones, etc.) once per day, minimum.
  • Sanitizing wipes are available to all teachers and students in the lesson rooms at all times. Teachers are encouraged to wipe down surfaces in between students, as well as to promote vigorous hand washing before and after each lesson.
  • We are actively communicating with all staff and teachers regarding preventative actions, including hand washing procedures and cough/respiratory etiquette.
  • Magazines, books, and toys have been removed from our waiting area temporarily, as many of these items are handled by many people several times a day.
  • An air purifier is being run every evening in the lesson area to help eliminate any airborne germs.

As our valued customers, you can help to keep BMC and The Music School a safe, fun, healthy place!

  • WASH YOUR HANDS! Plenty of soap is available in both restrooms. The CDC recommends washing hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds as frequently as is reasonable.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. As this is not always practical during a music lesson, please wash your hands and/or use hand sanitizer before and after your lesson.
  • Avoid close contact with those who are sick.
  • STAY HOME if you are not feeling well! BMC staff will be as flexible as possible with makeup lessons and schedule changes due to the health crisis. Please keep channels of communication open with our staff as much as possible. Our phone number, store cell number (for texting only), and email addresses are below.
  • Cover your mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, then throw the tissue away and wash your hands immediately.

We will continue to monitor the situation, and will keep you posted on any changes. If you have further questions, please direct them to our Director of Sales, Jessica Bardelli.
