We will recycle your old strings and put on a free set!

HOW IT WORKS

Bring your instrument for a Restring & Detail Service between 10AM and 5 PM EST on April 22nd and receive a FREE* set of D'Addario acoustic or electric guitar strings!  You'll recieve a discount in the service on top of the free strings with the added benefit of helping us reduce the amount of waste we create through our string recycling program. The free string promotion is offered to acoustic and electric guitars only, but we can recycle any string from any type of stringed instrument.  We are also accepting any string donations from musicians who have old clippings or used sets.

At the end of April, we will be sending all of our collected strings since the beginning of last year to be recycled.  We hope to make a positive impact on our environment as a local community of musicians.

*Limited to one set of strings per customer.  Free set will be appropriate D'Addario Nickel Bronze, NYXL, or XT strings as determined by Bethel Music Center, subject to available inventory.  While supplies last.  Offer is non-trasnferable and does not include new orders.

Why recycle strings?

The impact of the music industry as a whole on our planet is no minor note.  Instrument strings are not typically recycled by the waste industry.  Each year, 1.5 million pounds of old strings end up in the landfill.  That's a lot of heavy metal - and not the good kind.  This is a major concern as landfill metals lead to the formation of caustic acids and can even poison municipal drinking water.

"Give me your tired, your rusted, your unwinding strings yearning to be replaced, the steel/bronze/nickel and nylon refuse of your stringed instrument"

Together, we can make a difference!

What happens to the waste

Once collected, the metal and nylon strings are separated by type and the metal is melted down and smelted into new metal alloys. The nylon is recycled into industrial plastic applications. Click here to learn more about the recycling process.

Recycling in partnership with D'Addario

TerraCycle® and D’Addario have partnered to create a free recycling program for instrument strings and clippings. By recycling in this program, D’Addario will make a charitable donation on your behalf, or you may earn loyalty points through D’Addario’s Playback program.  Bring in your guitar for the Restring and Detail Service on Earth Day to receive a D'Addario Player's Points voucher.
